Symposium Scope

In recent years molecular science is rapidly expanding to a wide variety of interdisciplinary areas including biology, medicine, and materials science. Spectroscopy and imaging are core techniques in molecular science, and a number of novel methods have been developed and applied to molecular systems in those research areas.

The primary objective of this international symposium "Advanced Spectroscopy and Imaging in Molecular Science" is to focus on recent developments of spectroscopy and imaging methods and their applications to molecular science. The topical areas presented and discussed in the symposium include:

  • Linear and nonlinear microscopy and imaging
  • Ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopy
  • Advanced vibrational spectroscopy
  • Sum-frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy
  • Biological applications
  • New approaches

Invited lectures (30 min) will be delivered by the following distinguished scientists (in alphabetical order).

  • Sanford A. Asher (University of Pittsburgh, USA)
  • I-Chia Chen (NTHU, Taiwan)
  • Volker Deckert (Univ of Jena, Germany)
  • Michael W. George (University of Nottingham, UK)
  • Terry L. Gustafson (Ohio State University, USA)
  • Ian Liau (NCTU, Taiwan)
  • Atsushi Miura (NCTU, Taiwan)
  • Tahei Tahara (RIKEN, Japan)

The symposium will be held in Science Building II, National Chiao Tung University. All oral presentations as well as a poster mixer will be held in the same building, facilitating active discussions and intensive exchange of ideas among the attendees.
